9 Secret steps to successful presenting ‘Ted Talk’ Style

4th March 2022

Secret 1. Talk with Passion…the number 1 secret of success…unleash the Master within. Passion is the thing that will help you create the highest expression of your talent. Effective stories, use of body language and slides are important components of a persuasive presentation yet they mean little if the speaker isn’t passionate about his/her topic.

Secret 2. Master the Art of storytelling….we all love a story!

Secret 3. Have a conversation … make your presentation so comfortable as if you were talking to a friend.

Secret 4. Teach something new to your audience…tell them stuff they don’t already know.

Dopamine levels are increased in the brain to help us retain new information …. make the information fresh and exciting.

Secret 5. Jaw dropping moments…. Can be an emotion or something out of the ordinary

Use your own creativity and ideas to inspire.

Secret 6. Don’t take yourself too seriously. The brain loves humour… give your audience something to smile about.

Humour lowers defences making your audience more receptive to your message… it will also make you seem more likeable so people will want to work with or do business with you!

Secret 7. The magic number 7 plus or minus 2 …most people have trouble remembering more than seven new pieces of information…e.g. we chunk numbers in 2 parts … one made up of 3 and then 4..like a phone number 345 678.

Secret 8. Paint a mental picture …deliver presentations with components that touch more than one sense…sight, sound, touch, taste and smell.

It works because the brain does not pay attention to boring things.

Secret 9. Be authentic, open and transparent… people can spot a phoney. If you try and be something or somebody else you will lose the trust of the audience.

So, go and be fabulous you …. show them the best of what you’ve got.
